Roasted Peat Timber Flooring, Floating Staircase & Ceiling Cladding
Builder: Lifestyle Building Design

Project Overview

A bold and cohesive design vision came to life in this architecturally-led Randwick home. Madera Floors was commissioned by Lifestyle Building Design to deliver a full-scope timber solution that went beyond the floor — extending to floating stairs and overhead ceiling features. The result is a seamless application of Roasted Peat timber that connects zones through material continuity and refined craftsmanship.

Scope of Work:
  • Supply and install 128mm wide Roasted Peat timber flooring, glued and secret nailed over existing particleboard subfloor
  • Supply and install cork expansion strips at tiled thresholds to accommodate natural movement
  • Sanding and polishing with one coat of penetrating sealer, followed by two coats of commercial-grade Bona Traffic water-based finish
  • Fabrication and installation of custom box treads for a sculptural floating staircase
  • Installation of Roasted Peat cladding to landing ceilings for a bold architectural feature and seamless vertical extension of the timber finish

Design Notes

The use of Roasted Peat throughout the floors, stairs, and ceiling creates an immersive material experience, rich in tone and texture. The secret-nailed installation provides a flawless surface, while the box tread detailing gives the floating staircase a sculptural presence. Finished with Bona Traffic for durability and a natural sheen, this project showcases Madera’s capacity to deliver technically complex and visually striking timber solutions — beyond the floor.
